Saving Money On Your Wardrobe

Wardrobe Sales

Before going out to buy new clothes, consider some ways to get the clothes you want for less money. Follow some of these tips and get your new wardrobe without hurting your wallet.

Before heading out to the store, empty your closet of the clothes you already have that you have not worn.  Any clothes you haven’t worn in the last year should leave your closet, and your house.  Instead of just getting rid of your clothes, try to sell them to a local consignment shop, providing the clothes are in good condition.  If the consignment shop doesn’t take your clothes, you may want to host a garage sale which will get you even more cash for those new clothes.  If those two options don’t work, you may want to give your clothes away to a thrift store.

It may be beneficial to you to visit the places you gave your clothes to in order to find the good quality clothes that you are looking for.  Some people don’t want to endure the hassle of selling their clothes and instead, donate their items to consignment shops and thrift stores.  You may also want to consider visiting eBay for a good bargain.  Although, some people try to avoid eBay for buying clothes because of having to rely on the description and photos of the seller that may not be accurate and leave out information.  You will also have to pay shipping for some purchases and there may not be an option to return unwanted or defective items.  However, paying careful attention to descriptions and seller feedback can save you some headaches along with asking questions to determine whether or not you believe you have found a good deal.

If visiting garage sales and thrift stores don’t prove to be successful, it’s time to start looking at sales.  Instead of walking into a store and starting to spend, wait for end of season and clearance sales.  If that isn’t an option, check store circulars and the internet for coupons to take a few dollars off of your purchases.  If you prefer online shopping or want to do your homework, type your desired clothing pieces into a search engine and compare prices from different stores before setting out to buy them and spending too much when you can get them cheaper at another store.

One way to find the right prices is to shop at discount stores like T.J. Maxx and Marshalls.  The stores stock up on items that they get at a deep discount and sell it to you at reasonable prices.  However, it is a good idea to make a list of what you want before you leave your house in order to set your budget and avoid overspending.

Lastly, the best way to save money is by taking care of the clothes you already own.  Be sure to fold or hang up your clothes when not being worn and wash clothes according to instructions on the label.

Search for the best deals, take care of your clothes, and set your budget to start saving money on your wardrobe!
